Journal Entries - August 12th, 2011 - This is the Life

The going has been tough at times: long stretches of road with no towns in site (not even a hut), running low on water, long hill climbs under the blistering heat, some bad roads, and sweaty nights. We’ve almost made it to the end of Baja; we’re one and a half days outside of La Paz. On the whole this has been one of the better days. We eventually found a place to camp, albeit we had to trespass into some ranch to find it. So here we lay in our tents at the end of the day in amongst the cacti and other prickly plants. With an odd cow or two wandering about every so often. Our stomachs are full with the tortillas Kevin prepared earlier. The sun has set and there’s a slight breeze to keep us cool. The traffic on the nearby road has gone silent and we’re out here alone listening to the crickets and critters call out to us. To keep cool we haven't put on our tent rainflies so we stare up at the full moon and stars in the night sky as we drift off to sleep.
